Creative Concepts was created to publish a scrapbook idea book titled "200 Great Scrapbook Layout Ideas." The owner, Dena Crow had enjoyed the hobby of scrapbooking for several years. From this hobby, she realized there was a need for a quality scrapbook idea book. The few that were on the market at that time were not in the style or format that most scrapbooking hobbyists wanted. In February 1998, the marketing plan was established to create the idea book. With advice from friends, help from family members, and prayerful consideration, Dena created the publishing company, Creative Concepts. Once the logistics and financial planning were completed, "200 Great Scrapbook Layout Ideas" was printed and ready for distribution in July of 1998. Immediate distribution of presold books began as soon as the book was printed. Sales of the book grew to include scrapbook stores across the nation, scrapbook consultants, national craft stores, and mass distributors. (Please note, the fourth printing of "200 Great Scrapbook Layout Ideas" is sold out and the publication has been retired.)
With the success of the book came the demand for a second publication. Creative Concepts held an international scrapbook contest in the summer of 1999 to obtain ideas for the second publication which was titled "200 MORE Great Scrapbook Layout Ideas." It was published and released in October 1999. The tremendous sales of this book had also proven a successful venture for Creative Concepts.
In 2001, Creative Concepts, in association with Hobby Lobby Craft Stores, began a publication of "Scrappin', Stampin' & Stationery!" The magazine's name changed in the third quarter 2006 issue to "Stamping, Stationery and Scrapbooking." The quarterly magazine contains paper craft ideas and is only $1.99.
June of 2002 began the release of the third book "Scrapbooking Through the Year." The initial print of this book was double the size of the other publications with thousands presold. Like the other full color books, "Scrapbooking Through the Year" has had tremendous sales and was fast becoming one of the top scrapbooking idea books for crafters.
"Scrapbooking Moments in Time" was released in August 2003. Like its' predecessors, this publication is top in the industry. Sales were phenomenal and customers loved the added Index of Embellishments.
"Scrapbooking Beyond Your Imagination, A Guide to Creating Home Decor and Gifts Using Your Scrapbook Supplies" was released in November 2005. This publication was a little different than the previous titles. As the scrapbooking industry evolved, so did the Creative Concepts publications. The purpose of this book was to show a variety of projects and gifts that can be created using scrapbooking supplies. "Scrapbooking Beyond Your Imagination" sparked the imagination and encouraged crafters to step out of their "usual" scrapbooking to create wonderful designs for the home, gifts and holidays. The popularity of this book was astounding and continued the success of the company. Creative Concepts is proud of its growth and success which has been a blessing from God. |
